Hap’s Cycle Sales is conveniently located in Sarasota, Florida, on the Sunshine State’s west coast. We serve all of Southwest Florida: Bradenton, Manatee, St Petersburg, Tampa, Arcadia, Myakka City, Venice, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, Clearwater, Lakeland, Englewood, North Port, and Cape Coral. We have one of the largest service teams in the area, working on all major brands with an in-house machine shop. Unusual for a powersports dealership, Hap’s also offers motorcycle insurance plus auto, boat and RV coverage through a full insurance department. In addition, our in-house financing can help those who cannot get credit through traditional banks.

Family Owned and Operated Since 1948

Hap’s Cycle Sales was founded by "Hap" AC Poneleit. Originally, Hap was part owner of the Sarasota Motorcycle Company with Ford Pucket. Sarasota Motorcycle Company was later called Pucket's Harley-Davidson when it became a Harley dealer. Hap eventually became the sole owner, and the dealership name was changed again, this time to Hap's Cycle Sales Inc. Hap always ran his company with a focus on customer service and a passion for motorcycling. Hap passed away on 8-11-2010 and rode his motorcycle work everyday until about 6 months before he passed. After Hap's passing Hap's Cycle Sales was owned and managed by David Bixler (Hap's Son in Law), Alice Bixler (Hap's only daugther), and Robert "Bob" Poneliet. David Bixler started working for his father in law after his honorable discharge from the US Army in 1970. David served in the Veitnam War and became the number salesman for Hap's Cycle Sales for decades. He won several awards for Sales from Honda including a trip to Japan and another to Hawaii. Were David meet Mr Honda and got to dine with him as well. David "Bix" Bixler passed away on 10-4-2020 from cancer. Today Hap's Cycle Sales, Inc. is owned by Robert "Bob / Big Al" Poneleit and Alice Bixler both Hap's children. Filling in as General Manager is Steve Bixler (David & Alice's son). Even thos Hap's has several family members working at our dealership we have dedicated employees who have basically been adopted into our family for years of service.
